The new server arrived on Monday, but I've only now got around to unpacking it. My daughter assisted in getting it cabled it up for me, and I'm now in the process of getting it loaded up with software.
Michael created a Mantis bug-posting-API which allows us to submit Mantis tickets from Nagios by calling the Mantis API with a carefully crafted _GET_ request.
Very useful indeed and I'll be wrapping that into the odd Nagios plugin shortly.
On a central Dovecot IMAP server it is rather easy to determine which users are currently online: a process list with ps ax displays at least one _imap_ process for each connected user detailing the username and the IP address of the client. I love savoy (German: Wirsing). Tonight we are preparing it by frying some bacon or lamb salami and adding the savoy cut into strips. Fry the savoy for a few minutes, then add 100ml of stock and 200ml of cream. Boil until the sauce thickens and is nice and creamy.

It is a long time since I've bought myself a toy, so I opted for a new server "chez Mens".
A Dell PowerEdge SC430 is to be delivered within a week and will replace a number of aging machines. I'll be installing CentOS 4.3 on it and VMware's server will be hosting some other operating systems.

According to this posting, the Fedora Directory Server (nee Netscape Directory Server) "blows away OpenLDAP for large scale LDAP deployments".
Is there anybody who can contribute hard facts about that? I find it hard to believe…
