Wash and cut a red pepper per person into pieces, with an extra 1 or 2 for the pot. Put with some olive oil into a heavy casserole or frying pan, gently stir-fry until tender and slightly brown. Just before you reach this stage (approx. 15 – 20 minutes), add several cloves of chopped garlic and drained capers. Let them cool, add salt and pepper. Delicious as a starter with fresh baguette.
Thank you, Hanna
Today is System Administrator Appreciation Day, the day on which system administrators all over the world get masses of gifts and thank-you notes for all the hard work they've been doing behind the scenes to keep firms running.
Quoting sysadminday.com:
On this special international day, give your System Administrator something that shows that you truly appreciate their hard work and dedication.
Let's face it, System Administrators get no respect 364 days a year. This is the day that all fellow System Administrators across the globe, will be showered with expensive sports cars and large piles of cash in appreciation of their diligent work. But seriously, we are asking for a nice token gift and some public acknowledgement. It's the least you could do. Consider all the daunting tasks and long hours (weekends too.) Let's be honest, sometimes we don't know our System Administrators as well as they know us. Remember this is one day to recognize your System Administrator for their workplace contributions and to promote professional excellence. Thank them for all the things they do for you and your business.
So, come on people! Do I already smell sysadmin cake?
I'm testing Vodafone's BlackBerry 8707v and it really is a beautiful gadget. The screen is superb, the trackball has just the right size and location (at least for my hand) and Vodafone's default theme is beautiful. The keyboard is a little on the small side for my big fingers (I seem to have less difficulty typing on the 7290), but I could live with that.
The home-page is very useful as it shows new messages at a glance. I haven't yet found out how to customize that home page (I'd get rid of the SMS entry, replacing it by the Internet browser if possible). I like the menu key and there is a comfort key on the left of the device which can be assigned to launch any desired application.
Unfortunately I was only given a GPRS connection and not UMTS, so I haven't had any experience yet with the faster network.
Do you play any kind of lotto? I don't. At least not on a regular basis. For some strange reason, I sometimes think that I'm missing out on the jackpot if I don't play…
On very odd occasions and only on the spur of the moment will I purchase a lotto ticket. If at all, I'm prompted by signs telling me that next Saturday's jackpot is over the two-digit million Euro mark.
It can't work. I know that very well. And yet, ...
I've gone fishing in the Mediterranean.
The menu will consist of gambas, alioli, gazpacho and half a ton of other lovely things. Those hints should suffice to at least determine which country I've flown to.
I'll be back in a fortnight, but posting will continue during my absence.
I digress. Believe it or not, brainfuck is an esoteric programming language, at least according to this Wikipedia entry. There is even such a thing as a brainfuck computer, made in real hardware.
Even if the above is just a belated April's fool, there is a truth on the web: hyperlinks really do beam you around.
How I got to brainfuck you ask? Well, some link on a weblog led me to Zidane (who doesn't really interest me in the slightest), wherupon I had to look up the f-word in Wikipedia, and the rest as they say, is history. Apropos the f-word: you must see and hear this classic Using Proper English! (also available as MP3)
I'm not (yet) a slave of my BlackBerry, but if I were, I'd want one of these

Wrap some creamy goats cheese with a leaf or two of ruccola (rocket) into a slice of bressaola, thus creating small and thin rolls. Place all the little rolls on a nice serving dish, together with some thin slices of lightly-toasted baguette which have been sprinkled with some drops of good olive oil before being put into a hot oven for five or ten minutes.
Ideal for a warm Summer evening.
