According to Heise (German), Microsoft is working with Turbolinux on an OpenXML to ODF converter which is to be Open Sourced with a BSD license, and just a few days ago Sun released an ODF Plugin for Microsoft Office; the plug in is available from the Sun download center.

ODF is a file format for electronic office documents, and OpenXML (OOXML) is something similar which was developed by Microsoft.
