Whoever thinks studying Unix manuals is confusing, let me suggest you read the 102 pages of the court's decision on the SCO vs. Novell proceedings. 
The important bit is in the Conclusion on page 99:
the court concludes that Novell is the owner of the UNIX and UnixWare copyrights.
