The Storage Daemon (SD) would have to be there, of course, and it would be nice if the Director ran on the NV as well. I'd imagine that's most important to people: they could use a client (e.g. <em>bconsole</em>) on a host to control the Director/SD on the NV. Oh, no — no Gui!

Because if it weren't for fun and I'd have to live from making ReadyNAS addons, I'd have died a long time ago from starvation ;) Having said that I'd like to know what parts of Bacula you'd actually need on the NAS and what you'd think would be a good layout. The thing is that I just don't have the time to do a web gui or similar niceties. So if you're fine with just the toolset and nothing else (as with the iSCSI target), well, that could be ready over the weekend.
